BLUF: We must create a hierarchical command, communication, coordination structure in order to divide labor efficiently, to avoid unnecessary duplication of efforts, and to clearly identify needs and available resources on an ongoing basis.
Conspicuously absent from most resistance-centered writing I observe is awareness and recognition of the inevitable collapse of institutions we rely on daily. These are associated with health care delivery, food/fresh water availability, shelter, communication systems, finance/banking, and defense/law enforcement mutual aid (including for undocumented migrants).
Examples:
•One way to start is adding 1-3 cans of food to your shopping cart every trip, if possible.
•Add a couple of otc first aid items, like band-aids, cold/cough remedies, pain.fever reducers, etc.
•Try to establish a method for purifying water for drinking, also some kind of water collection.
•Once initiated, we can continue to enhance supply caches as able. Build from there.
•Freeze credit reporting.
•Try to establish a least a small cash reserve. Build from there.
These and other initial steps to hold on to our civilization, our values, our decency can seem daunting. Start small. Form alliances to pool resources and share expenses.
The most important initial steps if you've - like me - been a bit isolated the past few years are to consolidate networks with people.
Our country's absolutely being torn asunder. Let's organize, and act.
ACLU executive director Anthony Romero is referring to Trump refusing to obey the Supreme Court (assuming it rules against the man they stated could act like a King), but Trump has already refused to obey (and continues to refuse to obey) several lower court orders. Trump has not suffered in any way -- and to my knowledge, the always-spineless Democrats have steadfastly refused to publicly mention his illegal acts. Also: Why isn't every non-Cult member insisting he be impeached (whether the votes are there or not)?
I almost always drive at the speed limit and I am continually being passed -- in no passing zones -- so just driving at the posted limit is probably as effective as choosing a non-specific minimum speed.
The long-time executive director of the ACLU is "just beginning to think through" what our resistance should look like? How about turning their uber-helpful "Know Your Rights" handbooks into free apps for immigrants and resisters to have in their pockets in case they're in an encounter with law enforcement? (I asked if the ACLU wanted help doing so, having developed one for them 15 years ago, but got no response and so made them independently at https://your-rights.org and https:your-rights.com.)
I wonder if there's still value in "starving the beast" — financial resistance in forms like delayed tax filings/payments and consumer boycotts — or if the beast will just print more money or re-value the Strategic Crypto Reserve to make up any shortfalls. But what better time to push the envelope on federal tax deductions than when the administration has just fired 6,000 IRS employees?

The time is now.
I believe that Senator Elissa Slotkin is from Michigan, not Minnesota
Argh! Thank you. Corrected.

Yes. Senator Elissa Slotkin IS definitely from Michigan.
